Course Description
Objective: This course aims to provide therapists with a solid understanding of safe Dry Needling techniques, the risks associated with needling for neurogenic inflammation and trigger points, trigger point physiology, and the practical application of Dry Needling in combination with other treatments for musculoskeletal pain. The course is primarily hands-on and practical.
Prerequisites: Participants should have a good knowledge of anatomy. The course is intended for naprapaths, physiotherapists, chiropractors, manual therapists, osteopaths, medical doctors, and students within these professions who have completed anatomy training. Massage therapists and other soft-tissue therapists are welcome to participate but must assess whether they possess sufficient anatomical knowledge to benefit from the course and perform the techniques safely. Participants who, in the instructor’s assessment, do not demonstrate adequate competence to perform Dry Needling safely will not receive a course certificate.
Course Content: The course covers trigger point physiology, practical aspects of Dry Needling treatment, deep intramuscular Dry Needling techniques, safety considerations and anatomy in vulnerable areas, safe treatment techniques, contraindications and precautions, as well as treatment of muscles in the lower extremity, hip, shoulder, arm and selected neck muscles.
